We place great importance on ensuring that collected data is not only recorded but also actively integrated into ERP systems, quality control and HR processes and view meat plants as data-driven systems. Through audits, process analyses and AI-based diagnostics we uncover inefficiencies and develop solutions for greater transparency, higher yields and stable operations, regardless of location or equipment.
Smart Functionals
Our systems ensure stable emulsions, enable precise fat integration and make variable raw materials such as PSE pork or DFD beef reliably usable. They also include methods for injection and skin-fat emulsions that improve tenderness, flavour and yield. In addition, we develop practical solutions for catering bacon and in-house MDM production. This reduces dependence on costly imports, lowers production costs and increases yields while maintaining quality and process reliability.

Under the Oake Woods label, we develop products that combine technical functionality with market-ready concepts. Examples such as Marbled Meat, Boerewors and Biltong demonstrate how our technical solutions become reliable, economical and market-relevant products in practice. Eben van Tonder
Industrial Innovator and Meat Processing Specialist
Eben has more than twenty years of experience in building, operating, and scaling industrial meat processing. He led the complete setup of the largest meat factory in West Africa, including layout, equipment, recipes, training, and quality standards, and scaled Woody’s Consumer Brands from one ton per week to fifteen tons per day using a cost-efficient bacon system later adopted in New Zealand. His areas of expertise include lean layouts, team-based workflows, ERP-supported and data-driven process control with artificial intelligence, functional ingredient systems, meat-plant hybrids, the consolidation of distributed operations, direct procurement, and HACCP and hygiene. His focus is on achieving higher output per shift, stable processes, and reliable profitability.

Christa van Tonder
Entrepreneurship, Cultural Intelligence & Operations
Christa leverages her agricultural experience (slaughtering, curing, food preservation) into scalable, modern operations and implementation expertise, blending technical know-how with organizational rigor and an entrepreneurial mindset. She manages end-to-end projects from procurement to commissioning, owns the integration of machinery and spare parts including supplier management and logistics, and maintains resilient customer relationships. She leads project controlling, allocates resources and ensures audit-ready procedures. Her focus is on well-defined accountabilities and intercultural collaboration across continents so solutions perform reliably in day-to-day operations.
